Confession Time
Here’s where I confess that until today I had never heard “Fizheuer Zieheuer”. This is especially shocking I suppose, not least when you consider that it is the first result you’ll find when Googling “Fizheuer”.
The reason I didn’t hear it is mainly because I didn’t want to. Well, that and not being out at clubs much these days due to illness, though what Irish DJ would drop this? Answers on a postcard. I also decided (like a dickhead) that any track which came with such a massive billing could only be a disappointment, plus also I have an obstinate resistance to the auteurish tendencies of it all. Anyway my stupid hangups aside, I heard it today via the below video, and was instantly blown away. What is this stupid monkey music? What a glorious ridiculous loop!
I’ve played a few Villalobos productions lately, it’s more the internet hype that bugs me about him, and his endless status as “the only dance producer pushing the envelope” for people who never listen to any of the others. But respect where it’s due, if you want a point where popular music meets anarchic weirdness then I think this song is it. I guess this is “minimal” to the letter, the snares are like an event in themselves! NB I still haven’t heard the full mix, just watched this video about 10 times…god bless those two kids! (I will check out the original soon)

ricardo villalobos…
the point of it all
in short
ronan fitzgerald alluded to my spontaneous convulsions and subsequently succumbed to the spellbinding wonders of villalobos’ opus!
should i be proud or embarrassed of such an accomplishment?
