House Is A Feeling

If you’re looking for a label to watch in 2007, then my money is on TFE Records, if not to storm the globe, then to prove itself as a label doing something new. TFE have had just 5 releases to date, the first one “Tschakk” was some seriously lo-fi minimal techno with a great Dapayk remix on it. Check out above all else Saint Ibot’s awesome “White Night” which appropriately enough came out last year as a white label, it sounds like any number of big league dance artists, Aphex Twin, even Digitalism, while still keeping a German minimal house feel.

Their first release of 2007 is Cagney and Lacey’s pleasantly titled “Your Girl Pukes All Over The Dancefloor”. The original mix continues TFE’s angry Akufen style, all chops and stops. It’s backed with two great remixes from the label’s own Saint Ibot and Jesse Rose. Ibot’s mix has a kick which seems almost like a sample from Duoteque’s “Adyra”; it’s ice cold, with the weird deadpan style you come to expect from TFE. The utter darkness is broken only by strangely comical edits, like a man saying “I don’t have a television”. Jesse Rose meanwhile goes for a more bumping cut somewhere between minimal and his usual style, and I think he samples R2D2 somewhere in there, so Star Wars nerds rejoice
