A New Perspectiv
It’s hard to beat the buzz of finding a great new label, that excited feeling you get when you hear the second or third great release in a row and then go to Discogs or Google to find out more. For me the latest label to move me like this turns out to be a project by some of the Swiss artists I was praising back in the old country: a new label called Perspectiv Records.
With Agnes, Ripperton, 2000 and One, and Lazy Fat People (one part Ripperton of course) on the roster, you know the quality is going to be high. And of course this roster gives you an idea of the Perspectiv sound, that dark minimal vibe with a little trance flavour to it. Also part of the Perspectiv crew is Ndru who has released for Liebe Detail (unfortunately he was flipped with Matthias Meyer’s massive debut, “Reichenbeich” I think, and consequently maybe a little ignored) and Masaya whom you’ll know from the ace “Long Distance” release with Ripperton from last year.
If you’re keen to hear what Perspectiv have released so far, then check out their Myspace. I’ve no doubt this is a label that can be really big this year, there are loads of good producers in this micro scene but it’s important to get the right blend of them together on the right label, so releases can complement each other. Of course Agnes releases on Plak but sometimes the overall feel there is too dark, whereas here there’s more variety, and all the producers on a label benefit from that.
As a taster, here’s Ripperton’s amazing remix of Sam K’s “It Doesn’t Matter”, from January of this year. Perhaps even better than his forthcoming Liebe Detail release “10A”, this is seriously melancholy house music that will wash you away, not for fans of funk though!
The latest Perspectiv single is by Agnes and is just out on Beatport this week, in my opinion it’s one of Agnes’s best releases to date, I can’t wait for the next few releases already!
