Rejected Acceptable…
So Joris Voorn is normally a little more techno than I’m used to posting about, but Joris and a guy called Edwin Oosterwal turn about to be behind those great Rejected releases I’ve been playing in the radio shows. Although both look a little like Ken Dodd or British football hooligans (in the picture that won’t upload anymore) above they’ve managed to make some really great releases which are housier than some of Voorn’s past work. Most of the Rejected tracks are on quite a raw Detroit tip, it’s a pretty refreshing sound in the current context.
“SL3″ is definitely one to check out, it’s like a more ghettoey version of the Martin Buttrich sound, but my favourite so far is their brilliant Basic Channel meets “French Kiss” style “For The People”. Check it out. If you like these guys check out their website or their myspace. If you like their shirts check out a Lacoste shop near you.
Also worth mentioning is a new label by Donato Dozzy, who seems to be taking a long, long time to blow up but I keep thinking will get there eventually. I mean, I’m sure plenty of you are checking his stuff already but perhaps releasing on labels that aren’t so well known has kept him on the downlow a little. He’s now launched his own label, I really like the tracks by Modern Heads on the Myspace, and they’re on Beatport this week. His own “Gol” from last year also seems to be on the Myspace, though I was sure it came out somewhere else last year. Either way that’s a great record too. Definitely a guy with his own psychedelic sound, bringing us more of this Shonky style house tripping.
