Backlash 3.0..

Here’s a little vid from what was a great night last night in the Pod, first time in our new venue and I think the magic of Backlash has returned! Of course we had some great nights in our second venue, Rogue, but not quite the same buzz as last night, or our first venue.

You don’t really realise how much better a venue can be until you go there and feel it, the feeling of a good clubbing atmosphere is one of the most easily forgotten I’ve ever experienced, weirdly intangible. This is why I am often dubious when people say they prefer tiny venues or small crowds: I can’t remember what it feels like to be in a venue of 1000 plus people with great electronic music, but I do know that I always forget! When you go back and hear that huge sound of people welling up around you it’s like you’ve scratched an itch you didn’t know you had. It was a little like that last night: “Oh so THAT’S what’s been missing”.

A lot of new faces too which was cool.

The only mildly annoying thing was it having to end at 2.45 (urgh Dublin licensing laws). This guy pictured below understandably wanted another tune very badly, so I gave him my headphones! This is actually exactly like something I would have done in my own crazy days. The tune playing was the one I really wanted to finish on, a pitched up to 130bpm version of Alex Maier’s epic “Made In Nebraska”, on Buzzing Fly (in this case yes, they’ve “gone minimal/electro”). Would have been a nice finale. The last track of the night was the one I’m playing in the video above.
