Irish Times, an office full of people feverishly reading blogs…
Just kidding. But another article on Irish blogs, this time in the Ticket. A few thoughts come to me about this. The first is that it’s great (and right and proper) to see Richard’s Test blog included, the second is that I’m glad I didn’t have any material denigrating the Ticket on this page at the time they read the blogs! The third is that I’m disappointed I did have some accessible material like the Dizzee and the Arctic Monkeys post rather than hardcore incomprehensible techno scene chat.
I hate that post now because it’s one of two times I deigned to post about something non techno and it got 21 answers, mostly from people who didn’t like it, and now a reference in the paper! The other time I posted about the amazing John Cooper Clarke, and nobody answered. I mean seriously, if ever you wanted proof of the power of negativity!
I TRY to be a good person and to be positive and enthusiastic, I started this blog for that very reason, to only write about music I like so it makes me laugh when the most popular post is that one. I have real problems as a writer connecting with the mainstream on a level that makes me feel ok about doing that, or disconnecting with it in a way that is good humoured and NICE. Maybe it’s immaturity, maybe jadedness!
But you know, all that aside, above all else it’s great to get a mention in this piece along with the usual suspects/dons in the Irish blogosphere and hopefully this will direct some more people to the blog. So once again, welcome to any Irish Times readers. Is mise le meas!
