They don’t blame it on Marilyn (or the heroin)

Been meaning to write this post, relating to the Virginia Tech shootings, for a little while now. It’s not as off topic as it might seem. I guess it’s always natural to eventually look at the way people attempt to rationalise or explain tragedies like this, and in this case what strikes me most is […]

Bad Unkle

Uncles, jovial, matey, smelling of booze at family functions, even more macho than Dads. Unkle, playing Electric Picnic. Let’s all don combat trousers and go to watch this half disbanded shambles play here for the first time ever. Afterall, we need something to take our minds off the millennium bug.

Video from Backlash last night

Quiet week this week here, I’ve been doing some real work in a new job yesterday hence the lack of a radio show, just had to have time to rest and eat after working till 8.  More posts next in the next few days and maybe a mix too. Above is a video of Backlash […]

Some good records, shared and not shared.

So I just got a new Booka Shade 12 on Get Physical via their promo pool. It’s nice for once to recieve a piece of music before you’ve read about its existence, usually I talk about “the” rather than “a” when something new comes out, due to the hype that’s preceded it, especially with […]

Flying visit

Just a quick note from that decrepit Ryanair Terminal on my way to see my girlfriend to say that there was a radio show last night and it will be up for download a little later. Didn’t get a chance to do a proper preview as I was busy yesterday, failing my driving test for the fifth time. […]

More Moodymenn

Break SL’s “Flow” on Philpot, which as far as I remember is run by Falco Brocksieper of Substatic, is a really great record. I’ve always found that kind of a strange label for Brocksieper to be associated with, but he is a pretty multi-styled producer I guess. I started off last week’s show with this […]

Release the hounds…

So here’s a track I’ve been making for the last week or two. It’s my first ever track. I’m still a complete beginner with production so I guess I haven’t been able to create sounds with any real authority or individuality yet, but I still am pretty happy with this, at least for a start. […]

Last night’s mix…

Here it is
This week is a little schizo. Firstly I realised nothing was recording after 5 minutes, so it starts a little suddenly. Secondly it’s almost deep house at the start and Hawtin style 130bpm minimal by the end, quite a long journey! But I hope people like it all the same.

Chemical Brothers New Single…

A new low?
I really think this is awful, it sounds like bad funky house. What’s more it has some clown called Ali Love singing “I seen the funk electric” over it. It seems Ali Love is, according to my Googling, a “London souldiscofunkster”. And yes he is white, how did you guess?
What is it that […]
