Break SL’s “Flow” on Philpot, which as far as I remember is run by Falco Brocksieper of Substatic, is a really great record. I’ve always found that kind of a strange label for Brocksieper to be associated with, but he is a pretty multi-styled producer I guess. I started off last week’s show with this but unfortunately technical difficulty meant you only really got to hear the last 3 or 4 minutes of an 11 minute long track.
That’s a fatal omission with this one. “Flow” is what chilled music should actually sound like, just as forceful as the hardest techno record, dub that gets right in your face. The flipside “Trombone” is more up tempo and brilliant too, so check it out or buy it if you can, it’s on Beatport. Here’s his Myspace too. So is this even better than John Daly’s “Skydive”? Both are very similar but maybe I’m feeling this one even more. Certainly if you liked that you’ll be into this too. Here’s to a long summer of tracks like this.
