Playing tomorrow night

If you’re out in Dublin tomorrow night I’m playing at the Acii Disco night in the Hub from 1.30 to 3.00, with Brian Cairns beforehand. Should be fun and probably completely fucking crazy (always good), if it’s anything like their other events, so drop down if you’re around. I’ll be the one with the headphones.

Mobilee/Spectral Rooftop party

Anyone who has been to lots of clubs, and especially those who DJ, will know just how much nights can vary. Sometimes the DJ is bad. Sometimes the venue is wrong. Sometimes the crowd just aren’t right, or the soundsystem is crap. Plenty of the time all of these factors are the problem.
So as […]

Sonar Collective

Who is going? I am, but more just to get out of Dublin than to go crazy in Barcelona, though I will be attending the Mobilee/Spectral rooftop party on Saturday and the Resident Advisor party that night to see Sebo K, Ewan Pearson, Efdemin, Will Saul, and Philip Sherburne.
Other than that I think a swim […]

Sexism? Not on the internet!?

Good old Jess Harvell reviews Justice for Pitchfork. Possibly the best thing about this review is someone on the ILM thread assuming Jess was a girl and acting accordingly (way down the bottom on June 12th). In the context of a review that says “the riffs on tracks like ‘Let There Be Light’ and ‘Stress’ […]

Feirn Enough

I watched Feiern last week, a documentary by Maja Classen about the German techno scene. It features a whole slew of famous DJs and producers, though it doesn’t heavily label who all of them are throughout the film. Suffice to say, My My, Villalobos, Luciano, Ewan Pearson, André Galluzi (I think), and many more, are […]

Turning the Tides

Radiohead fan Ripperton is definitely one of the most consistently pleasing producers out there, for me. Currently he seems to be straddling the divide between minimal, deep house, and trance with considerable aplomb. And I guess the producers and DJs who can do that at the moment are the ones who are thriving.
A lot of […]
