no it encodes to wav. I think it would be fine except for the mixer in the station, and was particularly bad this week as somehow I turned the volume on it up before recording, it was in my pocket as I was walking in, maybe with the buttons unlocked. archos are pretty solid I think…I think also some weeks I am starting the show and doing a link in Irish which is difficult as I’m not perfectly fluent and so neglect to get a perfect reading on the player before recording…

I am not sure what an Archos media player is. Does it do encoding to mp3? Maybe it uses a bad encoding algorithm?

Maybe you can just lower the recording volume? I hear you on the pre-recorded thing, that’s not fun at all.

I use an Archos media player and hook it into the mixer. The mixer at the station is kinda shit though, very unreliable. Last night was particularly bad though as I had the volume on the player too high for some reason, normally the recording volume is fixed so I’m not sure how I adjusted that.

I might start recording the shows at home again, the quality is usually better then, though it is boring going in and hosting a pre-recorded show for an hour and a half!
