My favourite techno youtube

So many videos of clubs don’t really capture atmosphere, just music, or the volume of people there, or other factors isolated from the whole equation. This video really does look and sound great though, especially with good speakers to do it justice. I’m no Richie Hawtin obsessive but the music really hits the crowd like a wave in this clip, I haven’t seen any other video to match it. But if you have, by all means post a link in the comments.

In this video Richie Hawtin runs to the soundbooth at Paradiso, Amsterdam, when the guy there decides the party’s over. While Richie is begging him to let him play one more tune, Troy Pierce cues up the same Pressure Cooker track. Video is shakey, but it was one of those moments..

Amazing video of Sasha & Digweed playing to 25,000 in Buenos Aires.

Watch when “Beta Boy” kicks in and the strobes light up, illuminating the crowd. I’ve never seen a crowd jumping in unison like that.

Also, keep an eye out for the tripper in the poncho about 20 rows back, clearly off his face. Ha!

track in the original vid that sets the crowd off ain’t pressure cooker, it’s whatever, girl - activator (johnny vicious edit). another hawtin/villalobos staple. in case anyone was curious…

About the fourth track from the end of his and ricardo’s set. I wasn’t far from this video was taken, no idea who shot it and the quality is pretty poor - I just stumbled across it a few weeks afterwards. But anyway, pretty good idea of the energy of the place at that moment. I was, of course, going mental at the time, like the rest of the place.

Also, saw Hawtin at the arches in Glasgow last weekend - two and a half hours of the deepest, darkest high intensity techno - surpassed all expectations, best dj set I’ve seen from anyone in years.

eh, there’s no video of it, but the first time i saw the 3 Chairs was in 03 in the tent at DEMF and it was like a fucking voodoo ritual up in there for about 3 hours straight. it would make any of these videos look super tame. a couple thousand people unable to actually control themselves, freaking out to wild music.

yeah the magda dc10 footage is wicked!
dc10 footage is always the best cause its bright (obviously) you cant see 2 feet in front of you in fabric etc!
sounds like hawtin is on fire at the mo was in london last weekend and went to fabric instead of minus at the end but went to end afterhours and all the heads there were saying hawtin was seriously amazing.
as for dc10 has to be done next year!

When Richie Hawtin did this unbelievable set to end the Sonar 2005, he got thousands of people to be totally hypnotized by his music. It was Aaaawesome!!!
I took ages to get over it, and how he got more than 10,000 persons to just SHUT UP when he was bringing the sound to the minimum audible level, thus threatening that the party was over, and then bringing it back in full effect, sending us all to ecstasy!
That was the treatement given to Mathew Jonson’s MArionette for example, played back to back for more than 25 minutes… Amazing !

Thanks Ronan to bring back those wonderful memories!

haha. at the 3 chairs set i mentioned earlier, they cut the sound near the end of the set and people kept dancing, clapping in rhythm to the non-existant beat, cheering and whooping away. for like 5+ minutes. until they threw on one more record, the then new 3 chairs 12″ which made people go absolutely ballistic again. i have never seen anything like that.
