Shitport (at least for a few hours)

So it seems Beatport have made a monumental fuckup of their transition to passwords that must be 8 characters in length. After logging in today only to be refused entry to my own account and told my password had been reset, I then was sent an email which I was told contained a link to reset my password. The link simply led to the main Beatport front page.

In the last few hours, I tried again and I came to a screen giving me the option to change my password. It’s working again, I thought. Wrong. I changed my password just fine but it won’t let me into my account. I figured, since I want to do the radio show tonight, I’d make a new account just for this week, and use that. It won’t let me do this either, due to a “communication error”.

It’s a complete disaster. I’ve never had a problem with Beatport before but this is completely unacceptable.

Edit: Now it is working okay again.

Same things just happened to me. It’s a bit of a joke alright. All the more reason to keep using WPP I suppose.

    Ronan,
Truly we take these types of issues seriously. It is unfortunate that some times we thing we have thought of everything to avoid problems like this but the reality is some times things just don’t go as planned. i want to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience as I know I would be just as annoyed. Know that we are doing our very best to make this stable and do it as quick as possible As of right now everything should be working again. Beatport appreciates your continued support.

    Hi Eloy,

It is indeed working again now and I’ll edit the post to say that.

I actually posted about this in part because I was sure it must have been annoying others as well and I wanted to see how they felt on it. It made a real dent in my plans today.

But thanks a lot for the reply and it’s good it’s back working.

Just today i got my creditcard and i’m having a lot of fun on WPP. It works great, get your records in a matter of seconds. In fact I just downloaded a couple of eps and mixed em together. I know it’s not the best mix I’ve ever done, since i hardly had time to really listen to the records, but here it is anyway.

I’m afraid i’m going to have to put that creditcard in a save now.

I only noticed this yesterday after trying out the update to Traktor (v3.3). It’s actually finally got a working implementation for the Beatport integration, which is nice, although the password thing was a little annoying. I was able to change it straight away though, no hassles. Mind you, that was at around 11pm last night, so they must have steamironed out the previous problems well before then.

I just realized this isn’t the place to spam my own mixes. Sorry about that, alcohol and internet make up for a bad combination I guess.. Feel free to remove the comment.

Not at all…it’s no problem posting a mix here!

I had this same problem last night. As of today I was able to log on, but my ENTIRE CRATE IS NOW EMPTY! 270+ SONGS, completely gone. It took me countless hours and over a year to find the tracks and the only reason i did not download them, is because BEATPORT was haveing issues with the check out. Please, someone give me some advice. I am left with nothing and I would rather have had my dog died, then to loose all that time and effort.

    Boo hoo!

Isn’t it strange how reliant we have all become on “NOW NOW NOW!!!”, with everything we want right at our fingertips?

Five years ago I had to walk or drive down to my local CD store and dig for hours to find stuff.

Now, I can sit in front of my computer with a beer, naked, and browse hundreds of tracks from around the world, whenever I want, even at 3am; unlike a conventional store.

But, should this “always open” thing that I have begun to rely on be taken away, I’m going to get very, very angry that I’ve been denied two hours of service, even though I didn’t have to leave the house.

    Ironic!

Not a personal attack towards you Ronan, I find myself having the same attitude all the time, it’s just funny, that’s all.

  16. Ronan wrote:

Well, it is strange and it isn’t.

I mean, if you think of it in the sense that you use a service regularly and are used to it being available 24/7 then you don’t allow yourself 3 hours for it to be fixed.

I know for me last week I knew roughly what ten tracks or so I wanted from browsing all week, so it was just a case of buying them and having a quick scout for anything new.

I see it didn’t take the beatport gestapo long to find this blog when a complaint was made.

It pains me to see so many ‘Exclusives’ on wank-a-ton-a-port, shit like rippertons new label, i use kompakt-mp3 where possible and save myself enough money for good quality drugs.

Half downloaded tracks + slow as shit + fucking awful interface + rapeing regional pricing = F-

    BEATPORT MUST DIE!
