HIAF Guest Mix 11-Anonym (Sushitech/Bloop)

So who is the man behind the mask? Well I don’t actually know.

But if you’ve heard Anonym’s music on Bloop or Sushitech you may be wondering the same thing. If you haven’t then this live set, recorded at Tresor, should be the right introduction. This set is called the “Huis Is A Feeling” since “Huis” is the sort of music Anonym makes and because of the name of this site.

Anonym was kind enough to let me host this recording here and he’s also given what may be his first ever statement below, keeping most of the cards close to his chest but stoking the fires of mythology nicely. Here goes…

1. You’re recording anonymously, what are you willing to tell people about who you are, and why you are anonymous?

“I am Anonym the one who is Anonymous. I am anonymous because in any popular music form prone to be ransacked by the egos of its participants, a state of grace is best achieved and sustained by pursuing a life of anonymity. That preserves its creators from the warping stare of the media and its public in the process.”

2. Are you working and living in Detroit? Were you born there?

“Detroit is my heart and often my songs sing her praises. I have known her all my life”

3. Do you feel there is a connection between Detroit and the European or German scenes you’ve been working in?

“I think Detroit still has a strong influence over the scenes in Europe and the scenes in Europe especially in Berlin have a strong influence on the scene in Detroit.”

4. What sort of sounds do you try and make with your music? Who influences you and what sort of tracks do you like?

“I try to make soulful music something that will last and isn’t just another song of the month throw away track. The music I make comes from my heart.”

5. How do you feel about dance music in 2008? Are you enthusiastic?

“I think dance music is in a state of flux right now some people want to go more house some more techno. I think everyone needs to get back to when a producer could and did make a record with a house track a techno track even an ambient one on it.”

6. What can you tell us about these live sets? Do you always perform live or do you like to DJ as well?

“The live set is made up of released and unreleased material which I can perform all the parts in a free form arrangement or as they appear on the records. I always perform in various forms of disguise. I do like to DJ but right now I am focused on the live act.”

7. When did you first get into dance music? How did it happen?

“I was lucky enough to have grown up listening to radio shows with DJs like ..“The Electrifying Mojo”.., ..“The Wizard”.., ..“Richie Rich”.., and many more.
As well as TV shows like ..“The New Dance Show”
Then at 16 I went to a club called “The Shelter” where afterwards a friend took us to an abandoned apartment building which had a party on the top floor. Ever since that night I can’t stop.”

8. Anything else you’d like to tell people now that you have a platform to do so!?

“If anyone would like to find out more about me, book me for a show, or see where I will be playing you can go to my  ..Myspace page..at Myspace. com/anonymousrelease or my website at www. anonymousrelease. com

I’m very much impressed with what “Anonymous” is doing because there is so much about the name factor than the music.

Meantime I would say “Deep House” will never die, the media may try to sabotage it but will always rings a bell to the hearts and souls of the masses.
