Creating an interdisciplinary platform here by broadening the scope of discussed topics and simultaneously preserving the current character, that HIAF is loved for, should not be problematic provided you impose a relevant structure. An eclectic approach is an exciting idea. Do it!

If I were you, I'd integrate the new stuff here, but try to come up with some smart way to allow people who are only interested in the »classic« HIAF posts to still get only those (for example by offering separate RSS feeds).

But you should also consider that HIAF has probably earned a lot of its reputation from the fact that it is has a very clear focus. Maybe you are going to lose a couple of readers if you start writing here about things that people who want to read about music are not necessarily interested in. So maybe forget what I wrote before and create a new blog – then you can still set up an »umbrella website« that automatically aggregates the content from these two blogs.

happy new year to you too!
my advise would be:

.don't ignore this urge to broaden the scope on what you write about. it'll enrich your readers reading experience & probably give you more satisfaction as an exhaust.

.probably better to change the name of the blog, for it to make sense [although i think it's a shame not to use the HIAF name anymore].

.visit my blog regularly.
