Hi Jonathan,

I said targeting the Guardian was easy pickings, but I did so here because I felt they got taken in by somebody advertising a product they're associated with during an interview.

I'm not sure why you think I don't understand the term "global hub for electronic music buyers", the entire point of my reference to this was that it's a marketing speak way of saying "dance mp3 store", it's very easily understood.

Beyond that I have nothing more to say really, if you think I'm a moron/stupid then so be it, you're entitled to your opinion.

C'mon Ronan...

Would have expected more from you (not quite sure why tho). You've taken something that you admitted was easy pickings and made a cock of yourself just because the site in question isn't as big as beatport or juno etc.

Surely you don't need me to explain the broader meaning of 'global hub for electronic music buyers' - or do you?

I know things are slow at the minute and you can only blog so much nonsense before you have to scrape the barrel, but I was lead to believe you were quite intelligent.

"I might...even call “an online record store”"
Don't be ridiculous. It's clearly a "transnational drop-in centre for danceophiles".

True, true.

Strange because I think originally DJ Download was launched by DJ Mag, before they jumped ship. Maybe Mixmag filled the void they left.

Big fan of the blog by the way - I usually lurk in the shadows but felt inclined to comment on this one!

Yeah the only reason I tag Mixmag is it seems v close to the parts he does say, like the next par, sort of iffy.

The journalist at The Guardian probably stuck a request out on Response Source or a similar service that is monitored by PR agencies. Whoever handled the PR for DJ Download was obviously quicker than the equivalent person at Beatport etc and managed to sell the journalist some decent enough spin to convince them that it was indeed a "global hub for electronic music buyers."

This probably all just comes down to a lazy journalist not doing their research.

On a side note I think DJ Download probably spend a fair bit on marketing/communications efforts - for example they partner with Pioneer so that when you buy a CDJ you get 10 free downloads or some similar offer.
